Layer 8 Solutions – Cloud and SaaS
As the technology behind cloud computing continues to mature, migrating from on-premise to either full-cloud or hybrid-cloud solutions are easier than ever. From Microsoft’s Office365 and Azure to Amazon’s AWS offerings, Layer 8 Solutions has years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud environments!
What is the Cloud
The cloud is just a fancy way of saying “someone else’s computer” – as long as there is internet access available, cloud services are available to use 24/7. Cloud providers offer computer resources on their maintained infrastructure to use for any number of needs. SQL databases, Email servers, Web hosts, Domain Controllers, File servers – they can all be run on these cloud provider’s systems.
Why Use the Cloud
There are several advantages to using a cloud provider’s infrastructure for your services. Running on a fixed opex instead of draining capex means costs are controlled. Relying on the provider for infrastructure means no worrying about ISPs, Power, Cooling, Server hardware, Licensing, or Warranty maintenance.
SaaS, or Software as a Service, offers even more of a “hands-off” approach by removing any of the general OS maintenance requirements as well. Microsoft’s Office365 service is the best known example of SaaS, and offers hosted Email, Sharepoint, OneDrive, and other services.
Due to the nature of virtualization, Cloud providers can offer faster deployments, increased redundancies within the infrastructure, quicker backups, and system availability that is hard to beat from both a time and cost perspective.
Office365
Layer 8 Solutions has successfully performed countless migrations from on-premise Email to Office365. While migrating from an existing Exchange email server has been the quickest way to migrate, we also support moving from Gmail/GSuite, Postfix/Roundcube, and 3rd party Office365 hosts (Godaddy, Comcast, etc).
Telephony
Layer 8 Solutions has many years of experience with on-premise, cloud-PBX, and cloud-SIP VOIP solutions and will leverage this expertise to help you through any telephone transitions.
